BEACH CLUB sign

I was recently commissioned to design a sign for a local enterprise in Tavares, Florida...The Beach Club. I was told to include all the elements of its business, including kayak rentals, pontoons, pedal-driven surries, volleyball and a light deli-style menu. I tried to make this design bright and fun. Political cartoon: Crist and Rubio

I was asked to create a political cartoon depicting FL Governor Charles Crist and Marco Rubio, with Gov. Crist being invited to the Republican platform.

CONCEPT ART: SUPERHERO COMIC

This is initial concept artwork for a possible superhero comic. More of a parody of superhero comics. Still developing the supporting cast of characters. So far there's Seaweed, a pot-smoking seahorse, Grunion, a free-spirit with a Valley-boy mentality (a bit of a dim bulb), Creole, a French speaking shrimp from the Bayou, and Urchin, a flatulent old grump.

Editorial Cartoon: Oil Spill

This is an editorial cartoon concerning the recent and unfortunate oil spill off the eastern Florida coast, caused by an oil rig fire. Tragically, the eastern Florida eco-system will be bitterly affected. Here's proof that cartoons aren't always funny.

Caricature: Cartoonist Jim Ivey

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting artist, Jim Ivey. Jim was a political cartoonist for such publications as the Washington Star, The St. Petersburg Times, The San Francisco Examiner, and the Orlando Sentinel. His career spanned the years from 1949 to 1989. Besides his cartooning career Jim also operated the Cartoon Museum, the first museum of cartoon art in the U.S.

Jim was also regional chairman of the Nat'l Cartoonists Society and he published cARToon, a magazine covering the history of cartooning.

This caricature is my own special gift of thanks to Jim for his encouragement.

MYTHOS cartoon strip

Concept artwork for a cartoon strip series called "MYTHOS". The characters of the strip are creatures of myth, with the Greek Gods of Olympus. The main character is a Minotaur named Milo.

Caricature: THE FULL MONTY cast poster

When one of the local Lake County, Florida theatres performed the musical, THE FULL MONTY, I was commissioned to create the design for the cast poster, to be given as a gift to the cast members.

Caricature: Cruise Line Crew

I was commissioned to do a group caricature for the office crew of a Princess Cruise Line staff. Along with the group photo I was sent info pertaining to the specific duties of each staff member. Makes a great framed piece of art to hang in the office. Here, I've also included the actual group photo so you can judge the likenesses yourself.

Fantasy Caricature

I have found that caricature artwork can range from the common to the sublime. From a simple line sketch to something much more intricate. The main subject in this caricature was a lady who held a mythical/spiritual belief in life, plus a love of nature. This artwork is an attempt to represent not only the likeness of the subject, but also those things dear to her personal life.

GEORGE M, the Tshirt

One of my guilty pleasures in life is musical theatre. Recently I joined the cast of "GEORGE M" at the Melon Patch Playhouse in Leesburg, Florida. It was my honor to design the artwork for the cast Tshirt . The artwork design BEING the cast itself!

SOL MATES

Shortly after relocating to Lake County, Florida, I developed the concept for a cartoon strip called "Sol Mates", featuring a cast of characters naturally found in the state of Florida. I liked the idea of using the play on words "soul mates" and "sol mates" ("sol" being the Spanish word for sun)

THE CROCODILE HUNTER

Months after the untimely death of Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, I created this caricature in tribute. A copy of this artwork found its way to the Australia Zoo, and I am told it is still displayed there to this day.
